Five Agency Airmen, one unit earn top honors as best in ISR

5/24/2012 - LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Five Airmen and one squadron with the Air Force Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Agency here earned honors in the service's best in their fields.

The 2011 Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Awards Program and National Military Intelligence Association Maj. Gen. Jack E. Thomas Award recognize outstanding leadership and performance by military, civilian members, or units, who best contributed to the ISR force.

"Every winner not only represents the best of the best in AF ISR, but is also a testament to the tremendous teams behind all the winners," wrote Lt. Gen. Larry James, Air Force deputy chief of staff for ISR, in an e-mail announcement.

"We did fantastic in winning over a half dozen categories," added Maj. Gen. Robert Otto, Air Force ISR Agency commander. "Congratulations to all the winners!"

- Senior Airman Corey Dorsey, 566th Intelligence Squadron, Buckley Air Force Base, Colo., was named the level two outstanding active-duty ISR airman of the year.

- Tech. Sgt. Benjamin Isenberg, Signals Analysis Squadron, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, was named the level two outstanding active-duty ISR NCO of the year.

- Master Sgt. Casey Cota, 25th Intelligence Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla., was named the level two outstanding active-duty ISR senior NCO of the year.

- Maj. Michael Winter, 22nd Intelligence Squadron, Fort George G. Meade, Md., was named the level two outstanding active-duty ISR field grade officer of the year.

- Maj. Jacob McManus, 22nd IS, Fort Meade, was named the level two outstanding air reserve component ISR field grade officer of the year.

- The 22nd IS, Fort Meade, was named as the outstanding ISRD/IOS/IS/RS ISR unit of the year.

Isenberg and McManus were also the Air Force recipients of the NMIA Maj. Gen. Jack E. Thomas Awards in the active duty and Air Reserve Component categories, respectively. The Maj. Gen. Thomas award recognizes a deserving Air Force active duty and Air Reserve member as a testimony to professional excellence and exceptional dedication to duty.

Overall, 32 awards were given in 21 categories.
